Janice V. Kapner
Janice V. Kapner is a widely respected strategic communications and brand leader known for translating complex issues into clear, compelling narratives that drive action. Authentic storytelling sits at the center of her leadership approach, reinforced by strong operational discipline and a proven ability to partner with executives to support business performance, transformation, brand evolution, C-suite transitions, and culture. With more than 30 years working with Fortune 50 companies and high-growth technology firms, she has advised CEOs, C-suite leaders, board members, and senior leaders on corporate communications, brand strategy, crisis navigation, employee engagement, and organizational change.
Most recently, Janice served as T-Mobile’s Chief Communications & Corporate Responsibility Officer, where she built the Communications discipline from the ground up, supported the company’s turnaround, and played a central role in the $26B acquisition of Sprint—the largest telecom merger in U.S. history. Across her 12-year tenure, she reported directly to the CEO, worked closely with key members of the Board, navigated multiple C-suite transitions, and presented quarterly updates to key Board members. She led a 160-person organization spanning corporate communications, ESG strategy, internal engagement, and executive visibility.

Her leadership contributed to T-Mobile’s growth from $21 billion to more than $80 billion in revenue and from 33 million to over 130 million customers, helping elevate the company to the largest wireless provider in the United States and one of the strongest brands in global telecom. She served on the ESG Governance Council and was a director on the T-Mobile Foundation Board, advancing community impact initiatives and national sustainability efforts. For five years, she also served as executive sponsor of T-Mobile’s Women’s and Allies Network (WAN), supporting mentorship, professional development, and inclusive leadership.
Before joining T-Mobile, Janice held senior roles at Microsoft, where she led global communications for the $20B Office division and helped guide the brand’s transition to the cloud with the launch of Office 365. Earlier in her career, she worked with Silicon Valley startups—including eFax.com and PlaceWare (later acquired by Microsoft)—developing deep experience in IPO-stage growth, M&A, and agile brand storytelling and integrated marketing.
A self-made executive, Janice’s path to the C-suite reflects resilience, curiosity, and a belief in the power of influence, clarity, trust, and follow-through. She is known for aligning diverse teams, simplifying complex challenges, and helping leaders navigate change through thoughtful counsel and steady communication.
Her professional philosophy: Listen deeply. See clearly. Solve boldly. Tell the story. Execute relentlessly.
Janice holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from California State University, Sacramento, and an Executive Certification in Marketing Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management. Her work has been recognized by PRWeek (PR Power 100; Hall of Femme) and PR News (Top Women in PR, four-time honoree), and she is a recipient of the PRSA Golden Quill Award.
Committed to animal welfare and community impact, Janice serves on the board of PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society) and previously served on the board of Pet Partners, a national nonprofit dedicated to animal-assisted therapy. Outside of work, she is an avid traveler, a reader of spy thrillers, an amateur photographer, and a lifelong animal lover who shares her home with her husband and their three dogs.
